There is an abundance of fine
restaurants on the island that offer local cuisine, seafood and continental
cuisine. The wide range of dining options available in Barbados ensures that
there is something to suit every taste and budget.
By day informal attire is acceptable in
most Barbados restaurants, but at night a more formal dress code is enforced. It
is also recommended that dinner reservations be made in advance, especially
during the winter.

The
Boat Yard

menu for lunch and dinner. The fun really starts when the sun sets with great
entertainment nearly every night featuring the island's top bands. The Boatyard
is the only beach club that provides you with everything! Beach; water
sport activities, restaurant, bar & nightclub. All in one place - The
Boatyard Beach Club! It's never a dull moment here. You can let loose at our
ever popular Sharkey's in the yard bar. Groove to our exciting local and
international live bands, see limbo dancers performing, listen to fabulous

Carambola
Derricks, St.James. Ideally situated on a coral seacliff
overlooking the west coast sea, Carambola is well known for its elegant dining
experience and a menu which reflects an enticing combination of Classic French
cuisine with a Caribbean flair and a touch of Asia. With this special menu along
with its truly memorable cliff top setting, the food is complemented by a
stunning atmosphere. Carambola is a first class choice for elegant dining
or the celebration of any special occasion. The location,
scenery and setting is fabulous, the service is impeccable, and the food - truly
gourmet. This should be a "must do" for everyone visiting Barbados. We
highly recommend.The restaurant is truly "the best" on the island. The
ambiance created by the ocean, stingrays swimming by and under you, makes
for the ideal setting to accompany a first class dining experience.
The Cliff
Elegant dining in a superlative setting, The Cliff is
renowned as one of the Caribbean's most prestigious restaurants. Perched on a
cliff overlooking the west coast Caribbean Sea, this restaurant presents
unmatched gourmet dining and impeccable service in a sensuously romantic
setting. Internationally-renowned Chef Paul Owens and his team of dedicated
chefs inovatively create each dish using only the finest ingredients. Combine
this with The Cliff's first class service and you are guaranteed a truely
memorable experience. With the torches lit up and the soft music in
the background it was an unforgettable experience. We sat right by the cliff and
overlooked the water. At one point during our dinner we saw a sting
ray swim by along with other fish.

The Carambola
Two not to be missed restaurants. First the atmosphere at both were
stunning. They sit on the water and as for The Cliff, that is how it got its
name. You actually feel like you are right out in the water. The food and
service the best in Barbados. The price is steep at both but very well worth the
money. A great treat for an anniversary or honeymoon treat.
Cobblers
Cove
Situated at the edge of the beach and overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the
restaurant offers full English breakfast, delicious casual lunches, and elegant
evening dinners. The hotel is located on the beach just south of
Speightstown. It's an intimate five star luxury hotel. In house Restaurant
situated at the water's edge, has elegance and charm of an English country
house. A member of Relais & Chateau and highly recommended. Live music some
nights and on Sunday lunch during winter season.

Blue Horizon's poolside restaurant is known for its diversified
menu of local and international dishes.
The
Crane Lobster and Seafood Restaurant
This restaurant enjoys a spectacular view of Crane Beach and was awarded the
prestigious Á La Carte Magazine Gold Award for "Light Cuisine".
A romantic and secluded restaurant overlooking the dramatic lower east coast
Crane beach, the Crane Lobster & Seafood Restaurant specialises in the
finest seafoods, often caught daily by nearby local fishermen. This historic
setting is the site of the famed Crane Beach Hotel, which has been pampering
visitors since 1888. Spectacular views of this magnificent Atlantic coast beach
make dining here as eye-appealing as it is palate-pleasing. A wrap-around
outdoor dining terrace surrounds the indoor dining room, ensuring you can dine
to front row views. Lunch is either a sumptuous buffet or a la carte menu, and

David's Place
A beautiful Barbados seaside location, tasteful sophistication of decor,
friendly care and attention - it all comes together for an "unforgettable
Barbadian dining experience!" It is on
the Hastings Rd at St Lawrence Gap. Also the restaurant backs onto the sea
so the setting for your meal is perfect.
La
Maison Restaurant
The finest international cuisine coupled with our superb oceanfront setting
provides you with an unforgettable dining experience. A Gold Award winner, La
Maison is one of only six restaurants in the Caribbean to win the 'Best
Restaurant' award by the publishers of The Best Hotels and Restaurants in the
Caribbean (1996). Chef Daniel Essecheriay from Nantes, France is responsible for
the excellent cuisine that has earned La Maison its glowing reputation. The
desserts are simply luscious and one of his award-winning dishes is his Divine
Chocolate Souffle. There is also a large, comfortable bar lounge where you can
relax and enjoy drinks before and after dinner. The entire restaurant can be
reserved for private functions for up to 110 persons.
La
Mer
Port St. Charles. La Mer is an intimate, fine restaurant, with a
Caribbean-influenced Cosmopolitan menu. It is set in a marina water atmosphere.
This superbly appointed restaurant is located right on the edge of Port St
Charles lagoon in St Peter. Master Chef Hans Schweitzer has created a menu to
satisfy a wide range of tastes. Open for International Buffet lunch on Sundays
too.
The
Lone Star Garage
Serving "Food of The Sun" A unique combination of Modern European,
Mediterranean and Caribbean Cuisine, Lonestar provides a wide variety of the
finest quality fair, in a setting like no other on the island. There is a
Champagne and Caviar Lounge which offers the finest Iranian Caviar along with
Cuban Cigars and from December 1998 a full "Seafood Bar" will be
available.
The
Mews
The Mews is an exceptional restaurant serving up such creative delicacies as
sashimi and grilled scallops with roasted tomatoes and thyme. Reservations
recommended. As well as a restaurant, it is also a bar with a relaxed but
entertaining atmosphere. Live Jazz on Fridays with Willie Kerr, Andre Woodvine
and Ian Bishop around 11pm.
Mullins
Beautiful setting, wonderful food, efficient and discreet service. Mullins
is now one of the best restaurants on Barbados. The setting is out of this
world and the staff are beyond compare - always so friendly without being
overbearing. The food is fantastic and the wine (and rum) historic. I would
recommend that anyone visiting the island go to Mullins before any of the more
obvious choices.
Olives
Bar & Grill
An intimate and friendly little restaurant on the West Coast, Olives
Bar & Bistro specialises in imaginative Mediterranean and Caribbean cuisine.
The food and the mood fills you with a warm glow and the friendly and efficient
service adds to the overall welcoming air. The superb quality of the food, along
with the casual yet elegant ambience, keeps Olives one of the west coast's
favourite dinner spots. Situated at 1st Street in Holestown. Very light local
and Italian cuisine. Not expensive. Offers an air conditioned room or a
delightful garden setting. Excellent food and service.
Pisces
- For the finest Caribbean Seafood!
Literally on the water's edge in St Lawrence Gap, lush, tropical
decor. Dress elegantly casual. This romantic sea-side restaurant specializes in
a wide variety of freshly (same-day) caught Caribbean fish.
The
Plantation Restaurant & Garden Theatre
This long-standing colourful presentation is a show not to be
missed. The costuming and choreography are both quite stunning and there are
other facets of the show including the standard hotel floor show fare with an
added flair. The Plantation Garden Restaurant, just south of St. Lawrence Gap on
the main road, offers dinner, show, steelband music and dancing. Transportation
to and from your hotel can be included in the evening's package. Open Wednesdays
and Fridays only.
Ragamuffins
Try Ragamuffins for the quaint experience of
Bajan dining in a Chattel House setting. Tucked in a side-street in Holetowm
this little restaurant provides the most unique atmosphere that I have
experienced in Barbados. Besides all of that, the food is delicious, the staff
is very friendly & it is quite affordable. Great Fun!!!
The
Round House
Perched atop a rocky ledge overlooking the
breath-taking east coast, Round House Inn, Restaurant and Bar is ideally located
next to the famous Bathsheba 'Soup Bowl', the island's top surfing spot.
Enveloped in rugged, pristine beauty, Round House offers excellent Caribbean
cuisine, mostly Bajan. The fisherman's platter is a specialty:
dolphin, flying fish and shrimp along with peas and rice The Round House
offers a special tranquility only the island's east coast can provide. Explore
the sea life in tide pools, climb along the wind-buffeted rock formations, or
just walk along the miles of shell-filled beaches swept by the magnificent
Atlantic Ocean. Round House has it own lively bar and restaurant with an
extensive cuisine selection. The bar features Mount Gay Rum along with over 70
brands from around the world. It is the perfect place to get away from it all
and experience the true unsullied beauty of Barbados. Dinner on a moonlight
night is a must for the romantic at heart. The
Round House is a very nice little out of the way restaurant with very good food
and the atmosphere is very romantic with a live Reggae band. If you
are looking for a nice quite place to take the special someone in your life,
then I highly recommend the Round House resturant, I think you'll enjoy it.

This cosy little wine bar and restaurant offers a simple 'blackboard' style menu
with consistently good food at reasonable prices.
Villa
Nova
If you fancy fine cuisine in the
romantic atomosphere of one of Barbados' finest Plantation Houses then look no
further than Villa Nova. Navigating the route to Villa Nova is an adventure in
itself! You may wish to travel by Taxi? Once there you will know that the
journey has been worth the effort. The Plantation House has been furnished with
the finest pieces and this is matched only by the service which was attentive
whilst remaining relaxed. We started the evening with Cocktails in the Lounge
before being shown to our table on the terrace. The meal was one of the best I
have sampled in Barbados and the use of local produce and ingredients really
made for an interesting blend. I cannot recommend this restaurant
enough, if you are longing for something other than a waters edge setting i.e.
Carambola, The Cliff, La Mer, then please give this restaurant a
whirl. Also visit Villa Nova for Sunday Lunch. As well
as enjoying the meal were able to enjoy the views over Barbados.
