The Barbados Tourism Authority Announces a Special Agents certification program designed to help agents sell Barbados vacations more effectively. The program provides an arsenal of critical information, sales support and incentives.

Barbados Travel Agent Specialists will be selected from the USA's best-qualified professionals selling the destination.

Barbados is working closely with the travel agent community to bring you a whole family of special services and attention. We will give you an experience to remember, a holiday "Just Beyond Your Imagination". We are recruiting "Special Agents", who know Barbados intimately, and are trained to deliver you a Holiday that is "The Best It Can Be". Barbados Special Agents are Travel Consultants and Travel Professionals, who understand the industry, have the right contacts and the technology to get you the best service and value for that unforgettable vacation. Most importantly a Barbados Special Agent has first hand experience of the places and activities you might select and can give you sound advice. 

The Internet will be an integral part of the program and is used to promote the Special Agents to the Traveling Public and the hundreds of thousands of browsers who use the Barbados Tourism Encyclopedia.
In addition it will help in recruiting and training agents with an on-line database and home study program.

"We are using the technology to extend our marketing reach, and provide information to a wide public. Its an effective support to the very personal training and hands on visits that the Travel Agent will receive", said Hugh Riley, Director of Marketing and Sales, North America for the Barbados Tourism Authority

Familiarization and Training - Agents will use the Barbados Tourism Encyclopedia to familiarize themselves with the many features of Barbados and obtain answers to question which must be answered in order to qualify.

Home Study - The home-study program will offer agents the tools to identify target clients and recommend the perfect vacation experience; to meet their needs - and exceed their expectations. 

Referrals - Travelers who use the Barbados Tourism Authority Site and The Barbados Tourism Encyclopedia will be encouraged to "Book with a Special Agent". They will then be linked to the database of Special Agents, and may select an appropriate local agent by; name, area, postal code, telephone and specialty etc.

Promotion - Barbados will be advertising and promoting its USA Internet site and The Barbados Tourism Encyclopedia extensively. A major part of the promotion involves continuing the sponsorship of a dive holiday. A new promotion will offer several "Deluxe All Inclusive Holidays in Barbados" as well as other rewards to USA travelers. This promotion will be advertised on the Internet and in the traditional media. Working on this are Axses Inc, Internet Consultants, and Ruder Finn, Public Relations firm for the Barbados Tourism Authority - USA offices.
